I just received my new D7500 Nikon. I shoot in raw. When I went to my View NX2 to process the photos, nothing works. When I went to photoshop, the photos did not open. When I went to Windows 10 to open them, the same thing happened. What to do?

NX2 is quite old, won’t support the newer NEF files...

Go to Nikon’s site and download the new free app that does support the new NEF files, capture NX-D, or download the free Adobe DNG converter to convert the NEF files into DNG files.

I use Image Data Converter (www.nchsoftware.com/pixillion/download) and after conversion of the RAW files it allows me to transfer to Photoshop.

NX2 will not open the new Nikon .nef files. I had a D7100 and those were about the last ones that would work.
You'll have to do a lot of the PP in Capture NX-D. After you make the major edits you can save them as a .tiff and open them up in NX2 for some other edits.
I still do that as I love the control points and edits.
Full disclosure I like NX2 much more than NX-D but I adapt and move on.

Spot on - Yes, go to the Nikon web site and download the appropriate software. NX2 didn't work for my D7200 (I use Nikon Transfer 2 and Capture NX-D), but works fine for D7100. Good luck! and Happy New Year!

For my D7200, I use View-NXi for raw edits, then export tif files for PSE 19. Does Capture NX-D offer advantages over View-NXi for raw editing that I should explore?

I downloaded the DNG converter. I then attempted to convert the files. It said that no files were converted. Original files: DSC_008.NEF. Converted files: DSC_008Converted.dng. Status: The file appears to be an unsupported raw and then the rest was not visible. I do not understand.

Sounds like you have figured out a solution but I wonder...You say you have Photoshop. Are you on the subscription plan and do you have Lightroom too. If you do you should have the latest version of both PS and LR and your D7500 files should have opened right up. I bought that camera a year and a half ago. Stuck the card in the computer and all the files opened right off. LR is a raw editor. I think it is important to keep all your programs up to date.

I have the D7500 and love the camera -- I upload my photos into a LR catalog and process them using LR, PS, Topaz and Nik software with no problems.
