Canon 6D Mk2

Well I've had the Canon 6D Mark II for two years now, my background being a 50 year SLR/DSLR amateur that shoots mainly family gatherings, lots of landscape, some macro, occasional weddings, and other social events.
What I really like:
 * Image quality, sharp and very good color tones.
 * Ease of use, rear touch screen very easy for changing ISO, aperture, etc etc etc
 * Durable, besides many 3-14 day camping outings did 6k mile road trip through Rockies, week on Pacific coast, Antelope Canyon, and many other stops.  Still looks new even though not ever being bagged/cased etc, usually just kept close to hand.
 * Ergonomics, great handling and feel, prior 7D Mark II actually was bit better as a larger and heavier camera.
 * Super fast focus even in poor lighting.
 * Weight even with grip & 24-105L gives me a nice shooting base that I carry on long hikes etc. (Camera weight has NOT been an issue for me ever,  at 69 don't forsee any future issues even carrying extra water and/or a backpack - yet!)
What I don't like:
  * Battery life, doesn't seem as good as prior Rebels and 7D Mark II (all were gripped also).
Personally I consider this a much better fit for me then the 7D Mark II that I had for 2 years.  I just never was really happy with that camera, knowing it is a great camera.
Interesting, both my prior Rebels are still in use with daughter and son-in-law and found when I use one of those now feels kinda like a toy, yet I know these cameras got some great shots and still do.  The 7D Mark II I sold with 2 APS-C lens, couldn't afford to keep and purchase 6D Mark II (fixed income ya know)

Your type of photography hits the sweet spot of the 6D Mark II. The 7D MKII was designed for action photography and sports photography. It's strength is fast burst speed/ 10 images per second and it's AF tracking ability.
I used my 6D MKII for individual and team pictures, soccer videos, landscape, indoor bounce flash pictures and it does well. It didn't do well as a backup for the 7D MKII taking sports and action pictures.

Regarding battery life, I like the battery grip. It tends to balance out the camera, at least in my hands, and gives double battery life. I have used mine for hours, filling up multiple memory cards and still had battery. I always keep spares in my pocket, especially in cold weather.

I just acquired a 5D MKIV that I can use for both action and stationary subject photography. The 6D MKII remains in my kit as a backup for the 5D MIV and video.

I really like my Canon 6D ii too. The reviews I read were rather negative, but I am more than satisfied. Granted, I moved up from a Rebel, but my battery life is great. I have been able to shoot and review pictures for more than a day on one charge. I think the camera is a real bargain.

Steve49 makes a good point about the GPS function. I have not experienced any battery problem with my 6DM2 at all, in fact I actually kind of amazed how long it lasts before needing charging. I routinely get 2 days or more of shooting without charging.

There is a setting to disable the GPS when the camera is off.

Make sure the GPS is turned-off to preserve better battery life in that rig. I love mine as well despite the not so happy reviews some have written about it. It does what I need it to do and was my first FF camera purchase and I love FF stuff now. I am seriously thinking about taking my T3 Rebel and converting it to Infrared for some experimental excitement in the coming months ahead and if the $$$ are available at the time. I have owned Nikon as well and currently have shot Sony & Fuji and love some of their new entries , so I am happy with most anything that works well and no longer belong to a BRAND even though I have remained a Canon Shooter since '68 and will still have one at the ready.....always.

I've had my 6D2 about that same length of time and am very pleased with it. I am strictly an amateur and mostly like to do close-ups, architecture, and scenics. I chose it over the 5D4 because of the articulated touch screen and have never regretted that decision.

I second your thoughts on the 6DII which I also have. Image quality is very good.

I started out with DSLR's few years ago with a T4i then added a 80D and have been satisfied with both. But the desire of a FF have lingered in my mind for several months.
When the big discounts for the 5D MK4 and EOS R showed up a few weeks ago I debated between buying one or the other, but I couldn't get the 6D MK2 out of my mind.
After reading the above comments I'm finally convinced that the MKII is the camera for me. Merry Christmas everybody !!
