try Keh.com they are in freindlier, more polite Atlanta. good company to buy from. do not know about selling.
Wow, quite a thread. In that case I have to agree with most that the OP was the problem.
Adorama has been pretty good most of the time and Helen tries real hard to make up for some of their dimwit sales people. You have to keep in mind Adorama is in New York City. Not exactly known as the city of love. Some of their people on their best days come across very harsh to those of us from other parts of the U.S. where being friendly is much more imporant than making that last nickel.
Also it is clear that their customer service training sucks.
I heard what others have said and would just add , I have received some great deals from them and they ship fast . But I am sure now I wont ever try to sell to them .
I have dealt with Adorama several times and found them awesome.
I have been dealing with ADORAMA for over 5 years and never once had an issue that was not solved immediately. In fact, the two issues I did have were actually my fault but, Helen was on top of them as soon as she knew about them. I am, and will remain, a loyal ADORAMA customer. As for selling my gear to them; have not done that so can't comment.
Does it really make sense to think:
"the customer is A-L-W-A-Y-S right?"
I have bought cameras, telescopes, lenses etc. from Adorama and never a problem, but if you are selling something are you the customer?
When I sell, its never enough; when I purchase, its always too much.

Funny, I seem to experience this same problem!
Thanks everybody for you imput it is best to check into things before jumping into it.
I think that wether or not you "BUY" or you "SELL", you are talking about different ball games....
Never a problem buying from them.
I sold them some equipment and for some reason the check got lost in the shuffle. I called Helen and it was taken care of immediately. The other folks I talked with during the sale were both very courteous and attentive. In any business transaction both sides should be absolutely clear what is expected and that all terms are understood, in writing and agreed to. I don't care what the business is there will be occasional errors made. We shouldn't expect the other person to be perfect unless we can claim to be perfect ourselves. I along with everyone else in this world will never fit that definition.
I recently had a very positive experience with Adorama.
I wanted to sell a camera and several lens. I listed what I wanted to sell, sent them an email and the next day I received a phone call from them telling me they were very interested in buying my equipment.
They told me they would email me a prepaid shipping label. I would send the camera and lens to them and they would evaluate it. They paid 70% of retail value. If I did not like the quote all I had to do was say "no thanks" and they would return my equipment to me at their expense.
I agreed to this and within 15 minutes I had my prepaid label.
I sent my equipment. Within 2 days I received an email stating they received my equipment and it was being evaluated. I should hear from them again in about 4 days.
On the 5th day I received an email telling me they had a quote for me and asked me to call. I did call they quoted me a price I felt was very fair. I accepted their offer by phone. He told me I needed to send an email stating "I accept your offer". He also gave me the choice of receiving a check or credit towards purchase. At that time I did not need anything so I asked for a check.
He told me the easiest and fastest way for me to be paid was if I had a credit card they would just credit my card. I gave him my credit card number.
Within minutes I received an email telling me my credit card had been credited for the full amount and that it may take a couple of days for it to clear.
I checked my credit card online and sure enough there it was as "pending". The next day it was cleared and credited to my account.
The next day I received a nice email thanking me for doing business with them.
A couple of weeks later I needed a battery for my camera. So since I had a positive experience with Adorama, I decided to purchase one from them.
I had trouble with the online ordering and for some reason my order was duplicated. I called customer service and the lady was very friendly and helpful. She cancelled one of the orders and told me they would ship that day and she would follow on my order to make sure I was not double charged.
So I have had a very positive experience with Adorama, both in selling and buying. I have an order coming from them on Monday for connector tubes. So I continue to do business with them whenever I need anything.
Sorry for the long post, but with the negative post from a few weeks ago I wanted to let people know how pleased I am with them.
