The road is open again!

Back in May my favorite shortcut to the main highway was flooded over by the two ponds on either side, and it was finally closed. Seven months later and it's finally open, albeit with a rough asphalt paving job.

Hope they erect a small bridge over that spot to eliminate the closure from recurring .

We get the same sort of closure near where I live but it usually only lasts for a day.

We've lived here 26 years and this is the first year the flooding has been this bad. Given the poor funding for Michigan road repairs I highly doubt such a costly repair will be forthcoming anyrime soon. This whole year has ben rainy, more to come next week.

I'll bet your average rainfall is more than ours most years, but this year we're catching up!

Out in our rural area, there are straight stretches broken up by turns around small lakes or farm boundaries. Not too many switchbacks, though. Our town has 36 lakes within six miles radius, so you can imagine there are a few detours around the lakes.

Good to have a fishing rod handy, and a vehicle with long legs.
Sounds great.

Ten inches early November, dustings off and on, two inches yesterday, warmish until after Christmas week in the forties. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Early January is usually good for a foot or more. Woodshed is full and the tractor is working, so we're ready. No ice fishing yet.
