Sweeping VA gun ban, likely confiscation without grandfather clause, proposed by state legislature

Virginia lawmakers are now considering a state law banning the ownership of certain semi-automatic guns deemed “assault firearms” and limiting the magazine capacity of other firearms in the state — and there are no clauses that would allow existing owners to continue possessing them.
The Governor has stated that he would employ National Guard troops to go to door to door to confiscate newly banned firearms and prosecute offending owners of said weapons.
In response 76 counties have designated themselves "2nd amendment sanctuary" counties, including Tazewell County which has gone as far as to form a militia to protect their constitutional rights.
Looks like when the newly elected democratic legislature passes these proposals into law in January, and proceeds to enforce the new laws, we will see what happens when the rubber actually meets the road.

I hope you like mustard with your baloney.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Prohibiting sale, transport, etc., of assault firearms and certain firearm magazines; penalties. Expands the definition of "assault firearm" and prohibits any person from importing, selling, transferring, manufacturing, purchasing, possessing, or transporting an assault firearm. A violation is a Class 6 felony. The bill prohibits a dealer from selling, renting, trading, or transferring from his inventory an assault firearm to any person. The bill also prohibits a person from carrying a shotgun with a magazine that will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered in a public place; under existing law, this prohibition applies only in certain localities. The bill makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to import, sell, barter, or transfer any firearm magazine designed to hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
Mo grandfather clause in this proposal, I have linked to the full bill below. Read it and enjoy your sandwich

Wow!! Crickets from the "We don't want to take your guns" folks. I expected no less.
They better have some oven mitts with them cause they are likely to be very hot by the time they lay their hands on them.

Like I said, if they actually implement and enforce this law, it is going to be a much bigger problem than the now powerful dems ever imagined.

One can draw similarities with the states that are putting extreme abortion restrictions on the books. Both are throwing feces on the walls attempting to get their respective causes through the judicial system all the way to the Supreme Court.

A major flaw in the bill. Jujst how would an assault weapon be defined. Any weapon at all could have that name. A knife is an assault weapon. The national guard or any other official group going door to door confiscating anyn type of firearm is a vert good way of having more dead officials

Maybe where you live, but there will be trouble in Virginia.

Of course the two aren’t remotely similar.
The “progressives” will keep trying. Its good to note that this isn’t backed by most or by law enforcement.

Oh yeah I forgot different breed I hope so.
Local police are deputizing their citizens so they can’t be touched by such harassment.
