I just purchased a used Sony RX10 iv and am trying to get the number of shutter actuations. As of this moment, Mr. Google has been no help whatsoever. Could anyone here provide a link that would enable me to find this information? I’m wondering if Sony is one of the manufacturers that lacks the ability to provide the number of actuations. So far, I’ve tried the usual sites I’ve used in the past for my Nikons with NO success.

TIA!

Try this one. https://www.apotelyt.com/photo-camera/shutter-count-finder

Another question is does your camera have a mechanical shutter?

The exif data should be able to tell you.

No. The RX100's are 100% mirrorless, the shutter click is an audio file.

There must be a site that counts how many times the click sound has been played?

It’s an RX10, not an RX100.

Thanks, Bob, but that one came up empty, too. I’m thinking Sony is one of the brands that makes it impossible or next to impossible to locate. One thing I discovered is that Sony doesn’t provide the number of expected shutter actuations - at least not on this model.

My best bet might be to just accept the last file number (4142) as the shutter actuation count.

I don’t know if it has a mechanical or an electronic shutter, though I DO know where you’re going with your question.

This is the message I got, which is very similar to the other sites I tried.

Paul, are you being serious? It’s hard for me to tell sometimes.

Thanks, Gene. I actually went back and took another look. Also, thanks for the info on the electronic AND manual shutter. I thought it had both, but couldn’t remember where I saw it.

It's not the ability, but the desire. I don't know why all camera makers don't include shutter actuations in the EXIF data.

Is that universally true? Does it apply if the camera gets reset to factory defaults?
