We don't have the "jay" birds in our backyard too often so it was a treat to watch them yesterday. I did not know that the Stellar Jay (dark bird) and Blue Jay (lighter) are in the same family as the Crow and the Magpie.

Nice shots! Blue Jays are very uncommon West of the Rockies. I lived in NW Montana for 20 yrs and never saw one. They've been showing up here in Western Washington also the past few years.

You can take some of mine. They are boisterous, bossy around the feeder, make pigs of themselves and scare everyone else off. vz
