Did Ansel have a co-author for his three books, The Print, The Negative and The Camera?
I have all three of those Ansel Adams books, and no co-author is listed for any of them.

The first page of "The Negative" published in 1981 says, "Ansel Adams with the collaboration of Robert Baker".

Those are only three in the series of 5 or 6. The Darkroom, Natural Light, Artificial Light, or Light as well. There were a older series and a newer series with somewhat different titles and number. I think Ansel was the lone author but I am not sure about the earliest editions from the 1940s-1950s. Later Ansel added a Polaroid book. Mine are 1980 and later Editions. I believe Nancy Newhall wrote text to some of his photo portfolio table top books. I have tons of his books but they are all packed away for now.
Other original / early Zone System guys were Fred Archer, Minor White, and Richard Zakia.
I am interested in purchasing his books if you ever let them go!

Robert Baker is a well know photography author and scientific / technical photographer. I have several of his books as well. Adams probably did consult with Baker on some of his later editions of his books. Ansel constantly revised his books through many decades.

Dick Zakia was a wonderful person. Very easy to talk to, and could explain things even I could understand.
I last saw him at a Duke football game long after he had retired standing in line. He was surprised I recognized "a short old guy like me." Had a good laugh. Hard to believe he's been gone 7 years.
I have a couple of Minor White stories from former coworkers/students I may share down the road.

The New Zone System Manual by Minor White, Richard D. Zakia, Peter Lorenz. The definitive book for the zone system photographer.
Besides all the great and easy to understand technical aspects is quite inspirational. Photographically and otherwise.

Don't recall seeing a co-author listed. However, one of his students, Minor White, put out a book back in the 70s, teaching Ansel's "Zone System" of photography. Mr White may have assisted him without credit.., but I don't know for sure.

He actually wrote five, not three. The two additional ones are "Natural Light Photography" and "Artificial Light Photography". I have all five volumes on my desk right now.

The unsung heroes for any author are their editors. Even the best authors are improved by excellent editors. Probably the same for AA.
The preface or acknowledgements for a book typically name and thank others for their involvement in its production.
