Would like to know if anyone is using a extra long (25 ft.) cable from V600 scanner to computer and any problems that may have arisen. It's just not going to be convenient to place the scanner on my desk near computer.
Thank You for any help.

There is a length limit for USB. You have to look it up. I think it's different for different USB standard like 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 etc..

You can purchase a USB cable that has a booster in the cable which will allow you to extend the normal distance of standard USB.

I use 18' (6' with scanner and 12' extension) with no problems, but not that brand scanner.
Think you will have problem with plain 25'.

Everything you need to know and how to get past the 16' max if have USB 2.0...

While I realize space can be a problem, isn't it going to be inconvenient to change what is being scanned if the scanner is not located near the computer?

Why not try it to see if it works! If not then return the cable for a refund.

From superuser.com, "In practice, the USB specification limits the length of a cable between full speed devices to 5 meters (a little under 16 feet 5 inches). For a low speed device the limit is 3 meters (9 feet 10 inches)."

And they should have added that there are USB "booster" or "active" cables which get around the length limits.

The cable length limit. specification for USB is 14-15 feet. That's why there aren't longer lengths available.

You can certainly test whatever length cable you desire to see if there's any negative effect.

Example: I tether my Canon DSLRs to my computer to remotely control them, with up to 23 feet of USB cable (a 14 and three 3-foot), and it works fine.

It can depend on the devices being connected.

I have the ability to run usb 2.0 up to 150 ft. Using two devices that convert usb to a RJ 45 cat5e/6 then back to usb. Available on Amazon for less than $10.

I use a V800 on the other side of the room with 25 feet but it is a cable with some kind of booster and I don't have a problem
