... or maybe not. I've always called these things buckeyes, but my naturalist brother objects whenever I do so. He gives me the scientific name, which leaves me unenlightened. So these are not really buckeyes, and are unrelated to the real buckeyes found in the east, but I call them buckeyes anyway. They look like little pears when hanging on the tree and the shiny nut is two to two and a half inches across.
