He is mainly using the Nikon Z-cameras for his video productions for youtube. For shooting stills Jared Polin now uses Sony A9 and A7RIV cameras. He just traded in all his F-lenses for credits at Allen's Camera to use on upcoming Z-mount lenses.

You are correct ,same video with different youtube name. My bad.

The point really is it isn't as abrupt a change as you may think . Jared has been using Sony mirrorless for awhile and has posted a few videos showing and talking about him loving using A9 and then A7RIV. Cheers

I haven't seen most of his videos. He could use the FTZ adapter for those Nikon lenses, he wants credit towards Z mount future lenses. When Sony introduced their full frame mirrorless, there were few FE lenses for them. Now, Sony has caught up, and have some of the finest glass available, including the G-Master lenses. Jared knows that Nikon will eventually catch up on future FF Nikon Z mount lenses. And he is getting a heads up on it. I have noticed many pro photographers have nothing but praise for the Z6, despite having to use the FTZ adapter, to use F mount lenses. The Sony a9 with 20fps will obviously be a big hit at the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

Well, mirrorless continues to gain favor among photographers. I predicted a few years back that eventually the majority of the cameras made would be mirrorless.

Today many photographers, including professional photographers are using mirrorless bodies and the last one I know of is Joe McDonald the wildlife photographer. He began using Canon, then switched to Nikon and now it is all Olympus. He is using the OM-1 Mk II to which he converted after one of his trips to Africa. During that trip he noted the excellent optical quality of the Olympus lenses, the easier that it was to carry the smaller, lighter camera and lenses.

An area that still concerns me is the use of AF for action and wildlife photography specially birds in flight. Till now this has been the greatest weakness of the mirrorless camera but the Om-1 Mk II improved considerably over previous bodies, not perfect but pretty good. I am not aware of how better is their top of the line body and I am not in a position to discuss other camera bodies because I only use Olympus M43 system. My personal opinion is that the AF and tracking capabilities of these cameras will continue to improve till they will be perfect for those tasks.

Many times, specially when traveling I leave all of my dSLR home and travel with my little Olympus knowing that at the end of the day the quality will be there.

About 3 weeks ago, a uhh member sold three Nikon cameras. A D500, D810, and a D850, plus the rest of his Nikon equipment for $20,000. He decided to switch to the Sony a7riv full frame mirrorless system, with lenses, etc. That's more than Jared's $13,000 of lenses. He said he has no regrets switching over. All three of those Nikon DSLRs, are Nikon's finest.

I am a pro who is deep into the Nikon system. I recently added a Z6 with both a 24-70 and 85 S version lenses. I have been using the Z6 on some assignments and I like it a lot, but I won'y be switching to solely mirrorless anytime soon. Still nothing better than a D5 with a 400/2.8 for sports, IMHO. What will the future bring? IDK. At the moment, I will be jumping on the D6 bandwagon. Best of luck

I just ordered a Z50 with a 2 lens bundle and $150 off of the converter. I was interested in adding a camera so I could have 2 with me on a safari in Feb. I currently have a D3400, after trading in my F2 and Nikorrmat and several lenses that the Nikon rep said would probably work, but might get stuck in the camera and require repair to remove. I was looking at another D3500, D5600 and D7.... The weight of the 7...was a major limiting factor. The crop sensor doesn't bother me so when the Nikon rep handed me the Z50 I "fell in love." The auto focus on the eye, the clarity of the viewfinder, the ability to use the converter, which is really just a body extender, so I can use my other lenses as well as new ones as released was a major factor. The price reduction was an added factor. I am supposed to receive the camera and converter on Friday, can't wait to see if one on my hands meets my expectation based on the demo. Oh, funny thing, I wanted an extra battery, but they haven't shipped yet!

I got confused when you said converter. You meant adapter. But, I guess another name could be a converter? You got a good deal. That FTZ adapter, so you can use your F Mount lenses on your new crop sensor Z50 mirrorless camera, sells retail for $250. Enjoy your new camera.

yes, I used the term convertor and adapter interchangeably. I really don't know what to call it. The Nikon rep pointed out that all it really is a spacer which puts space between the body and the lens. The older lenses have a convergent point in a different location since the body is thinner. I loved the 'feel" of the camera, something I didn't like on the higher end Nikon DSLRs when I decided to move from film. That is one of the reasons I went for an "entry level" Nikon D3400. The rep, this time, didn't even try to get me to move to a full sensor mirrorless model. Once I had the Z50 in my hand I was in love! The kit has 2 lenses designed for it, so the feel is marvelous. I have 35 and 50 mm prime lenses and an old fish eye that will be used with the adapter, convertor, spacer or whatever you want to call it. The price was great and using B and H's own credit card, they "discount" out the tax, so the price is offered as if net, no tax. I do hope the deal works out properly for me.
