I was passing by an historic 1700's cemetery this morning just as the rain had stopped and the mist was burning off. There must have been over thirty of these vultures perched on gravestones trying to warm their wings and dry out. It was an impressive, if a bit macabre, sight. The problem was that my camera was at home four miles away (another good reason to have one with you at all times, but hey, I was going to the dump). I raced home for the camera and by the time I returned most of the birds were circling overhead. But I did manage to capture a couple of stragglers.

Nice catches! They are beautiful flyers, but not much to look at face wise.:)
We live close to Hinkley Ohio and they come in the thousands to roost. Once in the spring and again in the fall. If you google Hinley Ohio Buzzards it is kind of cool.

Thanks, Erv. I agree they have a face only a mother could love. I researched the Hinkley, Ohio buzzards. How appropriate that Canterbury, CT, birthplave of Moses Cleaveland and founder of Cleveland, OH is only a few miles from me.

They let me carry, too! We can go as a matched set of .45 ACPs.
