Yesterday I went to Pearl Harbor because on of the Navy’s newest amphibious landing craft ships the “BOXER” was in port .., with a deck full of Osprey and Jump Jets ...as well as large hover craft down below .. I wanted to take some pics of her as this was a rare port calling ..

Those pics will be posted later .., as part of my tour I of course went to the Arizona Memorial and it was there , with tears streaming down my face , I took the shot you see.

I get very emotional when I’m on the Memorial .., always have , but yesterday was over the top ..,, I guess our Veteran son who flew in from AZ .., and wanted to see the Boxer .., added to the emotion ..

Punch Bowl of the Pacific is my other favorite place ... I am able to handle it as I walk a different pattern each time .., stopping to talk to as many fallen soldiers as I can .., thanking them for their sacrifice ..

Enjoy my rendition of The Battleship Missouri a proud symbol War and Peace ..

OH DOC....I think you nailed it.....WINNER !

when I see one of these battleships I am overwhelmed by their presence and the thoughts of their capabilities in battle........unbelievable . You really captured the essence of that ship. Love it so much.

Over-cooked, but, effectively rendering a menacing look.

Cheers!

You mean that isn't "Old Ironsides"?

That just points out the wonderful fact that the look, vibe, feel, expression, story, impact, emotion, etc. we try to create with our images are uniquely personal statements. Not everyone likes every image, but if it tells YOUR story it is a success, IMHO. I really like the "ghost" aspect you were going for, and appreciate how you got there!

What a great shot of Big Mo. As a kid I made plastic models of her. Aircraft Carriers--who cared--she was a Battleship, the Queen of the Sea.

A fine image. My oldest cousin was aboard her when the Japanese surrendered.
