Methinks you get same-same interpretation whether shot or shoot is used.
These were taken in Walla Walla Washington in October 2015. I used a tripod and remote shutter release, 1/4 sec, f/8. ISO 320. Hope this helps.

Get up close, ultra wide angle lens, small aperture for depth of field, spot meter on the balloon skin (the flames can get pretty bright), and bracket your shots. My favorite shots are shooting up into the balloon, and shots with the flames as they crank up the heat. Then you can step back and get multiple balloons in one shot.
Big flash bulbs and paint the light on the ballon.
Cameras on a tripod of course. Could do the same with a big bank of LED work lights too.
