That’s a nice informal portrait. Showing the man in his surroundings gives us a much better understanding of him than a closer image would.
I could hunt around for a month and never come across someone that radiated this kind of guiltless peace and tranquility. I admit to initially indulging my curiosity to explore possibilities in black and white, but eventually realizing that what I was trying to do was to preserve the spirit of this man.

For me, context is very important, the wider view showing the persons environment speaks about the person. The person isn't the subject, the whole picture, for me, is the subject.
