The Grumman TBF Avenger (designated TBM for aircraft manufactured by General Motors) is a WWII era torpedo bomber. Future president George H. W. Bush was an Avenger pilot, flying 58 combat missions in these planes during the war.

Film images shared in this post were captured using expired Fuji Superia 100 and Ilford Delta 400 (w/ orange filter). Processing and scanning was performed by North Coast Photography Services and the scanned JPEGs were processed further in Lightroom. EXIF data, including exposure and lens data, was extract from an EOS 1v and merged into the scanned files. The exposure details are available from the host Flickr pages using the URL titles of each image.
The B-25J Mitchell "Panchito" was accepted as surplus and immediately sent to storage in 1945. She was eventually used for training and radar testing duties until being sold as surplus in 1959 and used as an insect sprayer (and other duties). After museum duty in Florida in the 1970s, she was restored to airworthy in 1986.

The Vultee BT-13 was the basic trainer flown by most American pilots during World War II. It was the second phase of the three phase training program for pilots.
Vultee BT-13 Valiant "Playmate" The piston-engined Skyraider was designed during World War II to replace the Grumman TBF Avenger. Used by the US Navy over Korea and Vietnam, the A-1 was a primary close air support aircraft for the US Air Force and Vietnam Air Force during the Vietnam War.
