I'm still using Mojavi. I worry that programs like, DxO, LR, PS CC, Topaz, etc might not work with the new OS. I have seen it happen before!

I upgraded to Catalina as soon as it was available. I am running a late 2015 iMac. Currently running Catalina 10.15.1, but had no issue at 10.15

I make use of Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge, DXO Photolab 3, ON1 Raw 2019 & many Topaz plugins, the old Nik collection and a few other plugins. All have been working fine. DXO Photolab 2 is still on my computer and it still works.

I downloaded a trial of ON 1 Raw 2020 and it worked fine, but I decided not to buy it.

Thank you. I'll download Catalina tonight wile I'm sleeping. Sometime my Internet connection is very slow because I live in the woods.

I assume you are using Lightroom Classic CC... Lightroom Stand alone may have issues with Catalina if it has 32 bit code in it.

Search for Catalina threads from last two weeks

-Catalina not ready for prime time
-if you have any remaining 32 bit programs, they are dead. Look at the threads. They tell you how to check this

I have not seen anyone give me a list of enough benefits to justify upgrading now from Mojave. I think I can wait a bit longer.

Thanks for the warning. I know I have a couple of 32 bit programs left over, but I can't remember what they are. I have seen warnings pop up regarding that.

I'm currently downloading Catalina as I type this message. I have a slow wireless phone connection to the Internet. I opted to start it at bed time so it could work through thee night. It's about 3:00 am and the computer is saying it has an hour to go. It's only about 28 degrees F tonight and that helps the download speed.

DNGALLAGER mentioned all the Photo programs that I use, assuring me that they still work for him. Everything is backed up.

Whoops, I just got notification that I lost connection to the Internet and it want's to start again. I was about half way done! Perhaps I should not have opened the browser?

I have no good justification for this upgrade, other than it's the latest and greatest. I hope it will be faster. There must be some advantage to it!?

I have a good friend who is an expert on all things MAC. His business is repairing them. I always consult him on these matters.
His advice was to wait at the very least until next summer.
Why be a Beta tester for a buggy system?

Too late I have gone and done it! It took awhile to load but it seem to be working so far. The only message I got was that "Adobe Reader" may no longer work. I must have been using a very old version and will need to download a new version.

Things seem to be working a little faster, maybe that's just me. So far so good.

I just got a message from ATT informing me that data usage exceeded 22GB. This was probable due in part to the three separate attempts to download the new OS. This means my Internet connection my slow down during heavy usage hours. I can live with that.

Catalina has been quite stable on my iMacs (mid 2013 and early 2019). I'm running Photo Raw 2020 which was a little slow rendering on the 2013 but is running fine on the 2019. I suspect though that PR2020 may have some early memory leak issues as yesterday after running continuously for several weeks of operations it hung in what appeared to be an infinite loop while deleting a bunch of culled images. Easily dealt with by restarting PR2020 and didn't require a reboot of the OS. Memory pressure showed about 50% running 32 gigs so memory leak might not have been the problem but given that there are over 1500 processes running normally and getting memory allocations when memory usage gets up to the 50% level can be problematic if the app doesn't release all its memory when suspended it seems most likely thing to look at first. I hope ON1's development team will dig hard looking for memory leaks because they can be very hard to catch sometimes. Still, I'm liking PR2020 and will keep using it. Adobe's failure to update LR6 32 bit components should cost them something.

I just download the latest version of Adobe Reader; it works.
My launch pad has an icon telling me that I now need to also download the new version of "PlayMemories Home". That's an app that came with my A99II camera that lets the iPhone send GPS location wirelessly to the camera's metadata. It worked in the past but was often a PITA. I hope it's improved.
