I am looking for information about buying a larger format printer. I want to print my own 11 x 14 prints. Also, I'd like to know if there is "archival" printing paper for home printing.

I've had good results from my Epson 1430. It makes prints up to 13 x 19.

A little bigger than 11x14 are the Canon Pro-100 with "100 year" dye inks and the more expensive Pro-10 with pigment inks that last a longer "really long time".

Check out the Canon Pro 1000 it gets great reviews . The pro 2000 and the pro 4000 , I just bought the Pro 4000 it's a 44 inch wide printer it's a 11 color and a chrome optimizer , lucia pigment ink . Some of the things not advertised is the fact that when cleaning nozzles or doing nozzle checks it does not use ink but uses glycerin, it is also a fact that when the head is parked and idle the head keeps a negative vacuum that draws glycerin into the nozzles as the head is resting in a glycerin tank . This is to keeps clogs from forming. There are many more features , since the pro series is the latest line so if form follows function I believe the pro 1000 shares these same features as all red line pro printers . Price is around $1200.00 for the pro 1000....seems a lot but it may be your last printer you need to buy ... I do not know about their other line of printers some here like the Pixma 100..

Your best bet is a printer that handles 13x19 sheet papers. Both Eason and Canon make some excellent printers in that size. “Archival” qualities have more to do with the inks you use as opposed to the papers. Pigment inks generally have greater archival characteristics than dye inks. An excellent pigment ink printer is the Canon PIXMA Pro-10. It can often be found on good rebate deals.

Of course, a lot depends on what you mean by archival. For example, I sold a lot of my prints to the public at art festivals. It was important to me that if a customer was shelling out significant $$ for one of my prints, that print had the best chances of not fading. Thus, I have always used pigment inks. If in your case you simply mean a print that has a reasonable “wall life”, dye ink printers might be acceptable. The archival life of such prints can be increased by being sure to frame your prints using archival materials such as acid free backing and mat boards, IV protective glass, etc. Canon’s PIXMA PRO-100 is a great choice in that case and is often available on exceptional deals.

As to papers, there are a number of companies that produce excellent papers. Moab, Hahnemuhle, Red River. Both Epson and Canon papers produce fine art papers.

My point in asking the question was to point out that Epson stopped making that printer quite a while ago. Your link to Amazon proves the point. A third party contractor has one and is trying to get 955.49 plus 39.10 for shipping. That's pretty close to an even thousand for a $250 printer.

Advice to the OP would be to consider Epson's replacement, the Expression Photo HD XP-15000. The direct competition is the Canon Pro-100. Both do a good job with dye ink prints to 13" wide.

right now at the Epson clearance center they have refurbished P600's on sale for $539 (with inks) This is a 13X19 printer. It can also be used with roll paper for those panos!
I've been using its predecessor, the R3000, for about 3 years with no complaints

Do check around for the best price on the Canon Pixma Pro 100. A very good printer, lower priced on promotion, usually with a lot of free paper. It will not take rolls, just sheet, but I find it very satisfactory.

If you want to print only tiny prints like 11x14, you do not need to purchase a large format printer!

Here is my recommendation
And here are my two best printer deals:
Now through December 31, 2019 we are offering the Canon Pixma PRO 10 printer at $379.99 before rebate (Canon sells it on their website for $699.99). This is a pigment based printer and is always reviewed very well. Your final cost is $129.99 plus the $50 paper package after mail in rebate! And if you purchase the printer with a qualifying Canon camera, the rebate increases to $350!

Hunt's is also offering an incredible special on the Canon Image PROGRAF Pro-1000 17" Printer. Purchase the printer for $1,299.99, and receive an assortment worth $550. of 17x22" Canon paper! You then mail in for your $300 rebate. Your final cost is $999.99 for the printer with $550 worth of FREE paper. Purchase the Pro-1000 with many Canon DSLRs, EOS R or EOS RP and receive a $400 rebate. Purchase with a large selection of cameras from Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji and Panasonic and receive a $350 rebate! Supplies definitely limited on this one. Call me now to reserve yours. I’ve had good luck with my Canon Pixma Pro 100 and the Canon Print Pro Studio plug-in for LR and my MacBook Pro. The plug-in is free.

Canon Pro 100 prints 13x19. MANY papers are available for it. Some are archival.
