I don't see a USA warranty slip. Is this grey market?

I live in NYC and for the past 15 years have purchased all of my extensive photographic equipment brand new from either B&H, Adorama or Fotocare, and only US and never gray market.

This teleconverter was purchased quite a number of years past but was never used and stored away. When I checked the items in the box, I mistakenly confused the “Nikon Worldwide Service Warranty” sheet for the warranty card. I am sorry about the misunderstanding this has caused.

I do not see a warranty card in the box nor can I find the original sales slip, but since the teleconverter was purchased many years ago it would not be under warranty. I checked Tom Hogan’s website and, in an article, posted on July 31, 2018 he states that “Nikon has long used the first digit of the serial number to indicate region for many of their products. Traditionally, that first digit was used by Nikon like this:

1. Not used
2. Japan
3. USA
4. Europe (excluding UK)
5. Canada
6. Australia/New Zealand
7. Asia (excluding Japan)
8. United Kingdom
9. Not used”

The serial number on this teleconverter is 331314. All Nikon lenses manufactured for the US market begin with a “3”, which confirms that this is a US lens and not gray market. Based on this, Nikon should service this teleconverter if necessary.

If you are interested in purchasing the teleconverter I can assure you that it is as-new, in perfect working order and not a gray market item.
