I have been enjoying seeing and hearing about the IQ of these 2 new lenses. Both claim to preform well with their respective tc. Does anyine have any jaw dropping examples of one bumped x 1.4?
Can your camera retain autofocus with such an extender installed?

Can ANY camera give worthwhile (moving subjects) AF other than in bright sunlight ??
.
My D850 does ok when shooting with a 1.4 teleconverter on a Nikon f5.6 200/500mm yielding an equivalent f8. Not sure what the effective f-stop with the Tamron or Sigma 150/600’s and a 1.4 teleconverter or for that after what camera your using it on. Worth a try.

Generally speaking a 1.4X teleconverter requires a 1 f/stop increase in exposure. A 2X requires 2 f/stops. Most cameras won't autofocus once the maximum aperture hits about f/8. The Sigma (and Tamron for that matter) won't autofocus with any converter attached.

Here’s the link to the Compatibility Chart for Tamron lenses. It also indicates whether or not the specific lens will autofocus with a TC. More than likely, Sigma also has such a chart.

I have a sigma 150-600 C and a sigma 1.4x TC that I use on a D500. Autofocus struggles at times with the TC attached.

I tried using a Sigma Sport with a 1.4 - it was underwhelming. And it cannot be hand-held that easily. With a 36 mp or high full frame, I think 600 more than adequate.
Jaw dropping is in the eye of the beholder and probably an unreasonably high bar. Nikon 200-500 w/matched 1.4 on D500, handheld, in 25 mph winds.

I use the Sigma 150-600 C with a Nikon D500. Love the combo and I get very sharp images. I have found the the difference between an image taken with the Sigma 1.4 TC (TC 1401) or cropping an image in PP is negligible. You have to zoom way in to see the differences which the TC wins but it is ever so slight. Thus, I find the TC stays in the bag more than I take it out.
I just got the Sigma Sport 70-200 though and I may find the TC will get good use with this lens.

You will not get jaw dropping images from using a 1.4 teleconverter on a Sigma 150-600. You will get OK images from the Sigma 150-600 without a teleconverter.
You are better off not using a 1.4 on the Sigma 150-600 as that lens is typically soft at 600 without a converter.
So, my advice would be to shoot without a teleconverter.
teleconverters work best on fast primes, like a 300 2.8, 400 2.8, 500 4, and 600 4, even the 300 4 will give good results.
Teleconverters give their worst results on slow zooms, like the 150-600, resulting in focus hunting, out of focus images, and soft images, especially at the telephoto end of the zoom.
Reality bites every once in a while.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.
even the 150-500 will not accept the auto focus with the w/1.4. I have to manual focus to get that job done
The 150/600 G2 on a D500 with the TC1.4 will af at f8 with good lighting.
