F = ma, or Fw = mg . (where m = mass, and g = the pull of gravity, 9.8 m/sec^2)

In the U.S. we know the pull of gravity as 32 ft/sec^2. The formula also must include the condition "in a vacuum". Otherwise air molecules will slow the rate of acceleration.
