I'm making a late change in an upcoming trip itinerary that will now be taking me through Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I will be staying one night in St. Ignace, and will have time to try and get some shots of the Mackinac Bridge.
I am looking for suggestions on locations to get good shots of this majestic bridge.
Thanks!
The park in Mackinaw city, the State Park in St Ignace, McGulpin Point just down the hill from the lighthouse. Also there are a couple scenic overlooks on US-2 west of St Ignace, one is a few miles out but has a nice view.
Good luck, please post. :
Edit: take Central Ave west out of Mackinaw city about 2 or 3 miles to dead end and turn right at dead end, then follow till road ends at McGulpin Point lighthouse.
This is also the location of the Headlands dark sky park if interested in star photos. Just follow the signs.
Thanks for the help. I'm really looking forward to the trip and will hopefully get some winners to post here.

Indeed I believe the above is correct. I remember these parks from my past adventures.

This may be a little over-the-top (you will appreciate the pun in a moment).
There are several small General Aviation airports nearby. Start with any flight schools then work your way down to the FBO and see if you can get someone with a Cessna to take you up for an arial shot or two. I say Cessna because you can open the window (be sure your camera strap is OK) whereas most other small airplanes don't have a passenger window that will open. Also, a high wing is better. Helicopter would be ideal but they are more expensive and less available.
There are some other high wing airplanes, of course. A Cessna Cardinal is ideal because there is no strut under the wing but they are not as common as the others.

Many angles. Choose time of day accordingly.
1. South side.
2. Middle of Bridge.
3. North side.
Thanks, I will check into it. I haven't done any aerial shots, but have always thought the idea is really cool.
Great shots Fotoartist! I really like the last one. That is what I am looking for.
That's the northwest side of the bridge (from the St. Ignace bridge view park) looking into the sunrise (blue hour). They turn the bridge lights off after the sun rises. I added the tree in the the foreground.

That old Caddy sure stands out. All three shots are great.
You can also get some interesting shots from the boat that takes you out to Mackinaw Island. Mackinaw Island is also a great place to get pics especially this late in the season, there are very few visitors.

I don't know if it's subsided but yesterday there was a report that much of the road around the outside of the island was flooded.
