Might Be Time To Take Lightroom Seriously

I joined an online seminar today about learning Lightroom CC (the cloud one). The tablet and phone versions have a training system attached. A bunch of great world class photographer share their images. As you open them, the photographers processing is demonstrated. On your phone or tablet, poke the little house symbol in the upper left.

Beyond the new training features I also saw how well the tools work. Lightroom CC (the cloud one) is no longer a weak sister to Classic.

This is upsetting! I've been stubbornly sticking to my Lightroom Classic workflow and habits. I think I need to expand my thinking a little more.

I wish Adobe would use a clearer naming scheme to quickly differentiate between LR Classic CC (1/2 of the Photography bundle with PS) which I have on my laptop and LR CC which I have on my tablet. Maybe they could name LR CC “bojax”.🤓

Love the software, hate the marketing....

I just have problems having to have my work in the cloud.

That's part of the main purpose. Because it is "in the cloud" your images can be on your phone, on your tablet, on your computer and on your Portfolio website. And, they all match. There is a workflow where you can keep a copy on your own drive.

Yes but, as you expand your portfolio, the cost of the online storage escalates.

That is true. But it always amazes me how frugal photographers want to be with software and storage. But, they will spend amazing amounts on computers, cameras, printers and even photography travel.

I will never use any cloud based post processing system. In the adobe family I prefer just working in ACR and Bridge. I have no real need for the catalogue within LR.

I will join the crowd who stubbornly sticks to Lightroom Classic. I have no interest in learning the “cloud-based” version of Lightroom. Good luck in your quest.

"Good luck in your quest."

Thanks. I'm already enjoying it. I'm trying to learn to better take advantage of the camera in my phone. I've learned how to take a picture with it and have the image automatically imported into Classic via the "cloud-based" links.

Most of the time it is better to have a real camera, save to a card, transfer the card to my computer, import and review. Sometimes I've got nothing better than the camera in my phone.

I too am sticking with LR Classic/PS bundle. Since I never do PP on a mobile device I see no reason to learn another program. I haven't learned to use the full potential of the ones I have.

I am still using LR 6.1.1 and having zero issues with it.

That's wonderful. No point in getting any new tools if you don't need or want them.

This is unfortunate as the product was updated to 6.14 before the end-of-life announcement.
