An experiment in darkness.

As I left home yesterday morning I heard an owl hooting. I saw his silhouette in a tree so I decided to try and take a nearly total darkness shot for the fun of it. Nikon Z7, 500mm F5.6PF lens at F5.6, 1/60 sec hand held, and ISO 6400. (Yes, I knew it would be grainy with that camera). I was surprised how much detail could be retained when processing the RAW file, its clearly a younger Lesser Horned Owl, not many of them around my area.

I can sense your near. Just WHOOOO is taking my picture? Lol.. Thanks for sharing. I have not even seen or heard any owls around here. But a lot of eagles.

Apart from the horrendous noise and
the white balance/tint being miles off
there's something I like about your
owl photo.
