Trouble with Microsoft Photos app?

Is anyone else having problems with Microsoft Photos app? I can use it to download photos from SD card to Lenovo Legion Y520 laptop, and also do basic editing. However, it will no longer work for downloading photos via USB cable from iPhone 6S to the laptop. It crashes. Stops. Won't find New photos or download them.
I called MS Help. First person could not fix or repair. Scheduled second call for 1 week later. Ended up with MS Level 2 Tech Support on phone for 3.5 hours last week. Ultimately: no solution. Tech person called it "an emerging issue." Said they had just last Friday been given these "work-arounds" : iCloud iTunes Use File Explorer. Save to OneDrive.
iCloud seemed to need version 1903 of Windows 10---which Tech person "did not recommend."
I thought iTunes was obsolete/discontinued.
File Explorer is unsatisfactory: Apple seems to spread photos throughout numbered "folders"---no logic, no one recent folder of photos.
Ultimately there was NO solution. (After 3.5 hours, I was so frustrated, I don't think we attempted OneDrive.)
The Photos app has been up for about 4 years, I believe. Why this problem now?
I am very frustrated. I searched the Community of MS users...2-3 recent posts of similar problem.
I have just spent the evening downloading batches of photos from recent trips, extracting from zipfiles, moving to my DData drive into chronological folders. It was a very cumbersome and slow process.
I would really appreciate some advice on a better way to do this---downloading from iphone, and then simple editing. The Editing in Photos app still works...but frequently says "Oops! Can't save that one!" repeatedly. This never happened to me before this month.

65 views and not one comment? I cannot even find the post on UHH except under My Topics.

Update: Microsoft has set up another phone Help appointment with me. Hoping this fixes this app for me!

I do not think this is really a MS Photos problem. Downloading form iPhone to PC has always been difficult due to how Moma Apple tries to control everything. One of the reasons I use android.

Maybe I should borrow an Android and see if the app works ok. I have never had any problem before. Thanks for your comment.

Update and resolution:
Next Level MS Tech Support seems to have fixed the problem I described with Photos app freezing and crashing. Found several corrupted files. Removed barious junk apps. Installed Windows 10 version 1903. Hoping this takes care of everything!
(When I tried an android phone, the program just flickered and disappeared—would not even open! That was before Tech Support’s latest efforts.).
I seem to be back in business.

Thanks for your comment. Apparently it was all a software glitch. I never found my post on a daily UHH and received no other comments. Stats show over 100 views but I don’t know where anyone even saw the post. Feel foolish for posting if no one else bothered to comment. Admin did not reply to my report either. Problem resolved. Have a good week.
