I wouldn't pay for a tour. There is so much information available online, and you can decide what to see and how far to walk. Getting from one area to another, take a taxi.

I couldn't agree more. Part of the fun about shooting in Central Park is the discovery of Cool Stuff. There is no lack of Cool Stuff there.

Since I live part time in Carnegie Hill (Manhattan) I often walked or jogged around the reservoire which offers numerous photographic gems (such as the bridges). At 85, I no longer bicycle and only venture (ventured) infrequently below the Jackie Kennedy plaque at the reservoire. Various mansions, museums, hotels offer many photo ops along with the horse drawn carriages near the Plaza Hotel. Take your time and find the treasures at your own pace. Take more pictures than you will want to keep and discard judiciously.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I'll study the map and plan my route and try and pack in as much as I can in one day....There's always next year too...
I'm only and hour or so from the City so no excuses there

May you be so taken with good opportunities that you come nowhere near completing your planned route!

Hello,
I have been to NYC several times taking photographs but have only been on the southern tip of Central Park.
Strawberry Fields is the farthest north I have ever been. I want to go to Central Park this Fall hopefully on a nice day and peak foliage.
I am trying to figure out "my plan" and the best way to spend my time efficiently to photograph as much of the park as I can.
I see online there are many options esp. tours. I figure I may be good for 4/5 hours of walking then probably start slowing down (tired).
I don't mind paying someone who really knows where they are going. I could always plan my own tour but hopefully not spend too much time wandering in the wrong directions.
Central Park is big, no doubt. Guess it may take 2 days to really accomplish everything. I am going for one day.
Just looking for opinions/input from members?...What do you think is the best way to approach this?
Thanks.
Hello, br I have been to NYC several times taking ... (show quote)

You might have to wait a 2-3 more weeks before the glorious colors come out. Central Park is big but 3-4 days should cover most of the park below 72nd St weather permitting. To help navigate through the park I downloaded an app on my phone called Map of New York OFFLINE....faster than google maps as it only uses GPS to show you where you are and which direction you are going in the park...covers all of NYC also.

Native NYer.
