Supposedly the chances of making a PK is 80% success and 20% failure. Here is the successful one.

I really like the image, especially the Goalie's look on his face. My only suggestion would be to lighten the image slightly. For me anyway, it appears too dark.
Cool shot from a great location.

Thanks for your comment. The dark appearance is due to my cataract....that's the way I see things. Hopefully after 10/09 that will be taken care of when they remove the cataract and replace the lens.

Thank you for your nice comment.

The goalie is my son. I've watched him play since he was about 7 years old...he is now 50.

Epic capture Bill... love how your Canon EOS 80D with it's EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II USM was able to lock on the goalie EVEN though the net was so omnipresent and so very close in the foreground! This has always plagued my efforts since Nikon's AF loves to lock on the closest object...

Great that you were able to shoot at ISO 100 albeit your 1/1250 wasn't quite enough to freeze the rocketing ball... I'm always at 1/2000 (or higher) for soccer now which seems to work for my needs...

This is a very tough shot to pull off... you have my sincere congrats here... precise pivotal moment indeed!

Looking forward to more of your stellar soccer efforts Bill

"...The goalie is my son... he is now 50..." That is so awesome! didn't see this reply before I posted...
Best wishes for a fabulous outcome on your cataract repair... I'm certain you'll do great! Success rate is extremely high for this procedure, albeit I keep putting it off...

Mine are so bad I can't drive at night due to halos from headlights... but I'm totally fine during daylight hours... btw, cataracts will tint you vision toward a warmer hue... I only have a major issue with my left eye (luckily I'm right eye dominate) so when color correcting I simply close my left eye! No Problem! EZ fix... lol

Again looking forward to more of your fantastic renderings of your very talented son...

Thank you.

I quit driving at night several years ago because of the glare and I hope the surgery cures that problem, however the MD said it might not.

My son quit playing goalie a few years ago but last Sunday the goalie was a no show and they started the match with 8 players. Final was 1 - 9.

Nice shot Paloviejo. I am sure your son loved it. Yes you could tweek the shadows a little and this would be a great shot. Post more when you can. Good luck with your surgery and You will be in my prayers. Thanks

Question: Is it easier being a goalie’s Dad now that he’s 50?😊

Definitely not easier....his older bones and muscles are slower to heal and I feel every hit he takes.

Your son would likely make an epic soccer team coach should he ever decided to move in that direction... His amazing investment in this fabulous sport could again flourish in his "golden" years...

Food for thought... Professional Soccer Players seem to be able to remain on the pitch far longer than those who play "American" football... where brain concussion i e traumatic brain injury in the US version of football has become a bane of this violent sport... According to league officials there are about 160 concussions in the N.F.L. per year! And those are only the one's reported and documented.

I wonder what "American" football would be like if FIFA Law 12 were applied to this brutally savage "sport"... If you think this isn't an issue, you might query a neurologist...

Thanks again... And I'm looking forward to more of your son's fabulous compelling moments on the pitch...

Wow how cool is this shot? Nice work as everyone here has said. Yeah lighten a bit other than that good shot. Soccer is tough because everything is moving so fast. Follow the ball, yeah easier said than done.
