Have you ever been out shooting and needed to know depth of field (DoF) but had to take a guess? I used to carry DoF tables in my bag, but they didn't cover all situations (macro, long lenses, etc.). Problem solved... I found a great App for my iPhone, so now I can quickly determine DoF as long as I have my phone with me. It's called Digital DoF by Indie Film Gear, and it's free in the App Store. It's been very useful. Don't know if it's available for Android phones.
I didn't see that specific name in the Google Play Store. If it's relatively new, they might port it over eventually. Thanks for sharing!
I have one for Android,"DOF Calculator" by Aimen RG. Free version has ads. No Ads is $5.
Thanks for the tip! My new iPhone XI arrives in 2 weeks. This will probably be the first app downloaded.
I don't calculate DOF in the field regardless of using an app or a chart. I wrote a program to to that on my programmable calculator back in the 80's but I don't use it in the field. The reason I would have to estimate subject distance and the range of DOF any way because I don't have any way to measure them accurately in the field.
I have one on my iPhone and iPad called Simple DOF. I think it is free. But I like the $10 PhotoPills app which offers a ton of capabilities and tutorials including various planners and calculators. Well worth $10 to me.

This is the best answer. Your preview button will give you a better idea of what you’ll get for DoF. If it’s a critical issue on a particular shot, then a trial photo viewed on the LCD screen or on a tethered tablet would be a better way to go.

I checked it out. Looks pretty straightforward and easy to use.

Yup, it works well to get a general idea.
I have an IOS app called TrueDoF-Pro. If this is the app you are talking about, it has one flaw. It has settings for focal length, distance, and f-stop. It has no setting for film size or sensor size. Depth of field for a given focal length varies with the sensor size.
ButchS, I don't think it's the same App. Mine lets you enter the camera model (which selects the proper sensor size and crop factor).

Cool! I need the one you use.
