What reason 61 mb sensor.
My first day with my new Sony A7R4 and it will take some getting used to. Here are a couple of examples you can do with 61 megabyte sensor. Crop-ability!
Absolutely! I'm a Minor League player here with y T4i but I invested in Canon's 15-85mm that had great reviews (close to an L lens quality, they said) rather than the kit lens and I find the need for a 70-200 tele lens just about unnecessary...I can crop and maintain good resolution.
Sensors or lenses - don't think there is a great deal of difference, except the big files are slow on the computer. Not that impressed by the crops, no offense intended, and speed with files on my D 810 are probably all I'm willing to suffer. Glad you are enjoying your new toy, but ever greater MP isn't the answer IMO.
My highest resolution camera only has 51 megapixels but I know what you are talking about. I don't use it as my everyday shooter for a few reasons but when I have a need for the high resolution images it produces, it does an excellent job. I have two everyday shooters, one with 30 megapixels and one with 24 megapixels. Both cameras are capable of producing excellent quality images.
My first digital camera only had 3 megapixels and its images were pretty good for only 3 megapixels, but prints larger than 6 by 8 began to suffer from the lack of resolution.

An I7 6th gen, 16GB Ram, and SSD for operating files, the files load in less than 2 seconds. Yes, if you are using a slow computer, you've got other problems,
