This place is fascinating. We went there a few years ago and thought it might disappear. It thrived for years as a camera store, developing and printing shop. The owner collected cameras for fun. The core business went away with digital but the collection grew.

Located in Staunton (in Western Central Virginia) the Camera Heritage Museum houses a unique collection of antique cameras dating from the 19th century to modern times.

If you can't go there, Google for "Camera Heritage Museum".

Thanks! FYI another interesting camera collection at the Masterworks / Museum of Bermuda Art. Only a portion on public display, but a good sampling. The displayed art is excellent.

Wish I had known about this back when I was in Staunton visiting the Statler Brothers museum and school. I also stopped at the Depot Grill. That was about 20 years ago, so my photos don't have EXIF data

Hi, Bill. I live in Staunton, Va. I have been to this museum many times. It does have a really diverse collection of many types of cameras. I have bought some lenses and other things from the owner, and he has cleaned the sensors in several of my cameras for free.
If anyone is ever in this area, it is worth taking a look.

Wow. I had no idea!

Our second home is less than an hour away from Staunton. I'll be sure to visit on our next trip.

Thanks!
Andy

Try to keep an eye on them! They need to stay viable, alive and well!

Staunton has an interesting history. I enjoyed the urban legend about how major sections of the city avoided being burned at the end of the Civil War.

I’ve got to visit that museum! I’m a collector of sorts (about 60 or so cameras) and appreciate these small mechanical wonders!
