Don't discount that phone camera

Whatever camera you have with you can get good shots.... sometimes cell phone cameras with full auto can come away with capturing decent shots with little post processing needed...

I tend to visualize panoramic shots where ever I can find them, so capturing 4 or 5 shots of a nice sunset with my iPhone, then merging them in Lightroom with some minor cropping ends up with a decent sunset shot.

I agree with your philosophy. My phone has yielded some outstanding images when my DSLR was not available. You did great in post processing that Pano in Corolla. Awesome color. Thanks for sharing.

Don't discount ANY camera for not being able to capture desirable, maybe valuable, images.

You can't ALWAYS have your DSLR or whatever with you. Since my phone is always with me, primarily to use as a TELEPHONE, the camera is a side benefit that has given me some beautiful spontaneous keepers.

My iPhone has a panorama mode. What do you think about that feature?

I have used the pano feature, but it only works in portrait mode, I set my iPhone to capture DNG files (using the Lightroom mobile system) then merge the horizontal shots in Lightroom on my desktop.

Some of the portrait mode auto pano shots do come out nice though.

I think most of us us our mobile phone camera, even dieheart the "real" camera proponents. Panoramic shots are easy to take so when my usual cameras aren't right there to use it sure works well. Mine does do the pano in landscape & portrait modes.
After looking through my Google Photos, I do take a lot with my Galaxy S9, since it is in my pocket almost always. By the time I would have pulled out my camera the sunset may not have been quite the same.
