The National Zoo in Washington DC is a delight to visit. The animals are healthy and well cared for with spacious habitats. The zoo is clean and I noticed no odors at all. The staff is friendly and seem to enjoy telling you more about the animals they care for. I will probably do another zoo post as well, but these are some of the first encounters.
The Panda house was great but not so good for photography. Inside, the Pandas played in their water and lounged around enjoying a meal of bamboo. Outside, without glass, was a better photo opp. We talked to one of the keepers of the Maned Wolves and that was very interesting. Apparently, the wolves frequently prey on local raccoons that venture into their habitat.
I hope you enjoy these encounters.

A nice visit to the zoo, great photography Carol.
Wonderful set, Carol!! I think you should frame the "otters" - fabulous composition, exposure and it's razor sharp.

A day at the zoo is a day well spent. Nice pics.

Great series Carol. I really liked the Otters image. You captured them perfectly.
As a side note, I once worked for a professional model builder. We mostly made architectural scale models. One of my assignments was to build a scale model of a new Great Ape enclosure for the National Zoo.

Thanks for the tour, Carol.
