I use Magic Lantern on a T2i and a T3i. No problems, and it is definitely useful. If it was available for my 80D I would use it, but I doubt that it ever will be.
What camera(s) are you considering using it on?

No problems. Just make sure your camera is supported.
Later version Canon Full frame are not.

It’s an excellent free adjunct to a Canon if your camera is supported and adds a bunch of useful features for stills as well as video (such as intervalometer, raw histograms, etc). I used it successfully on my 5D3 for years. You can invoke it with a button push and delete any time you wish. Pay attention to which FW version of your camera is supported. i backreved my 5D3 from 1.3 to 1.2 to utilize it.

Use it on my T2i and 70D . Used to have a 5D2 and like the extra features. As someone already mentioned, most of the late model/front line Canons don't have a version available.
Only thing to be careful of is removing it from the SD card if you don't want it on a card. You can't just format the card - To remove the software from the card, make sure you follow the directions.
The shutter count, intervelometer and motion sensing trigger are well worth the few minutes it takes to install on an SD card.
