Baltimore Surprise

Although we see Baltimore Orioles off and on from April-September in surrounding areas with suitable habitat, never has one made a recordable stop in our "bird friendly" backyard. Typically we see 8-12 species on any given day with that number jumping toward 20 species occasionally.

This "1st Fall" Baltimore Oriole male had us celebrating as it posed nicely for my wife earlier this morning.

Vonzip, appreciate the image you sent. Our image shows what the male looks like as a juvenile bird. Since this bird was born this summer somewhere in PA or NY, it will likely travel to Florida and mature into an adult like your image. Another image, not included in my original post, shows a cape on the back of the bird that indicates it is a male juvi.
