Good morning all.
As you might recall, I had posed a question about a Huion tablet and after all responses, I decided the model I was looking at was not what I thought. What I really want is display tablet to which I also realized they were beyond my current budget.
So now a thought came to me. My wife is a part of a local choir and she is looking at a tablet, yet to be determined which brand/model. My quetion is this...
Let's say she settles on an I-pad or a Samsung or whatever. Can these types of pads be used to edit photos in PSE, Lightroom or whatever? In other words, what I see on my desktop monitor, can I display and edit using a pen on the display of the pad?
Just a thought.
Newest iPads have built in photo editing feature and an Apple Pen is available as an option. However, for serious photo editing I'd still think Lightroom and Photoshop would suit better on a full screen computer like the iMac (I know, not your question but...).
That would work fine, except I don't have a steady hand and the mouse is not easy to control on small areas.
I do a ton of editing on my 2 IPad Pro’s 12” ..., with a ton of paid and free editing software ... I pen works well ...get a used one on eBay 1st or second generation 128 gig will do .. you’ll be glad you did ... I have 4 smaller IPads and a Samsung tablet .., , but find the larger 12.9 pro works best ..
They make a smaller IpadPro in first and second generation ... the 2nd gen works a little faster I have both 1st and 2nd ...
Your wife may want the smaller for her Choir needs .. go to a Best Buy or And Apple store to put both sizes in your hands .. then go to eBay for a 1st or second gen used ...some will come with an Ipen as well ...
I hope this helps ..
My serious editing is done on my MacBook Pro ..
There is an app called “Snapseed” that can do a lot of post processing. I don’t recall if it is free, but if it’s not it is only a nominal one time fee.
Sounds good. Will take a look as soon as my wife sees what other members of the choir use. Want to be sure whatever program they use will be compatible.

There are several apps for an iPad from Adobe. Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Express are free downloads on an iPad. They are lightweight versions of Photoshop but they will work for you. There are also many other apps for photo manipulation that are free downloads. Then too, there is Affinity for iPad. It is much more powerful than the Adobe apps. And yes, you can get the Apple Pencil for fine line work on your iPad.
But to be quite honest, the best programs are the ones for a regular pc or Mac. The iPad ones are ok, but for getting the best out of your photos, use a computer, not the tablet.
Again something to think about.
I use a Microsoft Surface Pro so it runs all the software that run on a PC and I can use the Pen.
I have the ipad mini that I used with lightroom. I am also a musician and I used it for my music. It was great but the screen was just too small. I recently purchased a 10 inch RCA Atlas Pro tablet with a removable keyboard for $110. I am really impressed with what I got for so little money. It runs on the android system which I prefer over apple. I can see my music with no problem and the lightroom mobile app works great on it. Lots of memory and good screen resolution. No it's not as great as a high priced Samsung or Apple tablet but if budget is important it's a really good buy. I still prefer editing on my PC though.
If I am not mistaken that if you subscribe to LR/PS CC you can use them on more than 1 device provided that you don't use more than 1 at the same time.
Something else to look at.
All good suggestions.
Thanks to all and keep the suggestions coming!

I continue to debate (with myself) on the merits of a display-style tablet. The key question, at least to me, is whether such a device would greatly facilitate editing, especially making selections, vs. traditional mouse-based control. I don't know the answer to that question.
I have switched from a MacBook Pro using LR classic to an iPad Pro using LR CC. The iPad is also useful as a storage device when I travel and at the same time allows me to edit before I get back home to the MacBook Pro which I prefer not to drag along. When I get home I can continue to edit on the MBPro by accessing my LR CC , which is all cloud based. I find that for the editing I do, LR Classic does not provide any real benefit over CC, which I now use almost exclusively on my iPad.
The iPad Pro also comes with Apple’s Photos which gives me enough editing capability in most of my shots. But clearly LR is more powerful.
