There are many canals that branch off Lake Okeechobee, such as this one. Up those canals are a million beautiful scenes. It looks so serene and peaceful. However, beneath these waters are a number of things to take into account: alligators and snakes. There is safety though, by taking a kayak, canoe or airboat. Just sitting in the boat waiting for something to happen is one of the most rewarding things you can do, that is if you have a camera close at hand. This scene could have been taken years or decades ago, but it was taken recently with my Nikon D3200 with a 55-300mm lens.
