Not sure I agree with the result but I do believe the guy in the last photo needs his glasses updated!

I'm totally with quixdraw here... This sends chills down my spine...
Remembering my epic struggles with college physics...
So glad that there are folks that thrive on this stuff... my mind can't seem to get the limits of orthogonal Z-measurements down... I simply get lost in the numerical maze...

I actually struggle to make meaningful inferences from Modulation Transfer Function curves calculated from the lens design data...

What causes Chromatic Aberrations at least I can understand... same with diffraction limits... and other wave phenomenon...

Somewhere there is a balance on what one needs to comprehend to shoot commercially and what is too hypothetical to worry about... haven't found this yet... lol

Thanks for the trip down memory lane GalaxyCat...
I've been suppress college physics trauma for way too long... lol

This was NOT a college course, it was a seminar when school was not in session at MIT. These people came from all over the world for the joy of Mathematics! The few slides here, are not some of the really horrible looking, incomprehensible mathematics I saw there. You have to have a PhD in Mathematics, just to comprehend what they are saying.

The last shot, processed a bit more, is unique, yet interesting as a story. A potential winner, if you lean that way,

The guy in the last photo was a previous scientist in industry, who went back into academia. He was fascinating. There were 9 presenters from all over the world in a 3 days' seminar.

I see an error in his logic on the blackboard image 4.

Trust me, I only showed the least painful mathematics slides.

I have a PhD in applied sciences and have had 16 calculus courses and never saw anything like this. Cannot even find it in my old math books. These people must really look at mathematics like I look at the alphabet!

Trust me, it was unbelievable. I was quiet and in awe, in the back. I was happy to catch a glimpse here and there, with just a bachelors in electrical engineering, (which was a lot of math). I love mathematics, but I really didn't qualify to be there. I was very respectful.

Very interesting set and story.

One question, did they all agree with each other ... like we do here on UHH?
