I was taking pictures of ships today & had taken quite a few when inexplicably everything got a strong pink tinge. This showed up in the LCD as well as the pictures. It was like a pink filter had been activated. I went through the menus 3 times without seeing anything that looked awry to me. I turned the camera on and off 3 times. I even took the battery out to no avail. Finally, I did a default shooting reset from the menu and it went back to normal. I suspect it was either an accidental filter activation or I somehow altered the temperature setting?

Two questions. What did I probably inadvertently activate and how? Second, if it happens again is simply restoring default shooting the easiest way to correct it or there a better solution?

Posting an exemple image with downloading enabled and exif data intact may help with analysis of the problem.

OK. At this point I was not composing a picture but just frantically trying to figure out the problem so this is not a sample of the way I would compose a picture.

You have Auto WB on and it's possible it became fooled. I try to set my WB according to the scene instead of the camera deciding. It's not always the best choice.

Yes, but it was stuck on "fooled"? I turned the camera on & off several times. I pointed it at different objects. Nothing worked except doing a reset to default. Then it returned to normal. Have you experienced prolonged WB anomalies like this? I took at least 5 pictures over a short period of time and all were pink.

The LCD screen in Fuji's is incredibly sensitive. I kept moving the focus point with my nose (no schnozz comments please) as well as changing other settings. Finally, a call to Fuji confirmed the cause and the tech suggested just to turn the touch screen functions off.

I agree about the WB issue.

Sorry I haven't. That might be partially because I don't use Auto WB.

My suggested action is to manually reset the WB if this happens again.

Some cameras have settings in the menu that allow you to give a certain hue to a scene: I bought a very nice Sony DSLR with 105 clicks from a pawnshop for 10% of MSRP that "turned all the pics green" (I think that was the color mentioned in the Ebay ad) according to the seller. I didn't say anything, but that camera makes wonderfull pics to this day, I just did a reset when I received it, no more off-color. WB is another issue, (think flourescent lighting) settings, and many have "scene settings" that will allow color hue alterations......

Why not call Fuji. They have excellent tech support. I have called them many times and so has my friend and all problems resolved.

I’m on my iPhone right now. I was wondering if someone would look at EXIF - look at actual facts instead of the usual guessing we get here - before I downloaded it to my computer.
