Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: "Free to good home. You want it, you take it". For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking twice at it. He eventually decided that people were too untrusting of this deal. It looked to good to be true, so he changed the sign to read: "Fridge for sale $50". The next day someone stole it.
Works - We call it sidewalk pickup
You can do it on Craigslist

I did that same thing with a kiddie pool years ago. Had a big sign FREE on it for two days. Finally change the sign to $10 and it was gone the next morning.
I heard if you want to get rid of your garbage in New York City,...just put it in a nice box or paper bag and leave it in the front seat of an unlocked car. Someone will steal it.
Old trick I bet,....they'd now steal the car and leave the garbage just for spite.
An absent minded musician left his accordion on the front seat of his car over night.
Next morning there were two more accordions in the back seat.

We have to lock our car during zuchini season. Even if we don't leave any zuchini in it there will be when we get back if it isn't locked.
