Dahlia on display. Mike's photo.
These images were taken two weeks ago at the San Francisco yearly Dahlia show. It is such an amazing event for someone who loves Dahlias or flowers in general. Dahlia is the official San Francisco city flower, I think there is no other flower that has such a variety of colors, shape and size, the size goes from the size of a 25cent piece to the size of a dinner plate. I was amused by the judging, there are three judges looking over one Dahlia for 15 minutes and making notes in the progress, to me they are all winners in their colorful beauty. To photograph these is not easy as for the harsh light from the windows and the table cloth back ground; I prefer them in their natural growing place. I will post some images in the future. I really enjoyed the show very much, I felled like a six year old at Disneyland, after about four hours admiring these beauties my legs were telling me it is time to walk the long way back to my car. So I said Good Bye Aufs Wiedersehn hopefully this old man is still around to see the show next year.

Thank you very much Erv. I shot at least 200 pictures, my camera started acting up, the metering system, so I had many over or underexposed, I mailed it out for repair today.

Thank you for your comment.
Great captures!! I didn't even know some of those species were dahlias. I love doing floral shows but haven't seen any dahlias around. Have you ever been to any orchid shows, if you like florals you'll love them. Just like the dahlias they come in hundreds of shapes, colors and sizes.........
I love them all. Such beautiful colors to give me a good feeling.
