Looking for thoughts on which is better for wildlife.
Thanks!
One is faster and one produces better quality images. I have both and have used both for wildlife. My preference is the 80D.
There is a new model comming out this month that rumers say may replace both. They suspect it will be called 90D.
As for 7DII vs 80D, I suspect it may be a toss-up. Funny thing - B&H lists the 7DII body only as discontinued.

Now I hear new ones are to be released in a month or so!

Yes, I hear that! Wonder what the price will be?

The 80D has the better sensor, but the 7DII has better AF and higher frame rate.- so it is really hard to say .....I put my money on and use the the 80D for less $$$....8-)

The 7DII can take more frames per second, 10fps vs the 80D 7fps. Important mostly for sports.
The 80D has a 24 MP sensor, the 7DII is 20 MP.
The technology of the 80D is two years newer, both have same size sensors, 7DII has a faster burst. I would give the edge to the 80D.

The 7D MII is faster 80D picture quality. I'm not big on birds in flight or sports, so photo quality I think is better for me.

Seriously, you had to ask, as if you don't already know. The 7D mk II under proper conditions is capable of up to 10 frames per second. Realistically it more like 6 but that's still pretty good throughput. I use to use my 7D mk II pretty much all the time for hand held wildlife shooting until Nikon gave us the marvelous D500. Good thing I also have several Nikkor lenses.
The 80D is rated at 7 fps I believe and it's probably good for 4 or 5. When Canon first announced the 80D I really liked what I read. I took delivery of my 80D on the first day they hit the streets. It's probably my favorite APS-C camera and I'm really looking forward to the 90D.
As part of my digital camera collection, which I started in 2001, I have a 10D thru 80D and they are all in really good shape and they all work.

80D sensor has higher resolution and better dynamic range than the 7D mk II. The 7D mk II is larger and has more of a pro build than the prosumer grade 80D. I'll take IQ over burst rate pretty much any day.
Geez I love reading all the conflicting misinformation in many of these posts. 😂😂

That's been the case for some time. They discontinued selling the body only more than 6 months ago, and now sell the 7D Mark II bundled together with Canon's own WiFi card for the same price. That is, of course, unless something has changed in the last few weeks.
