Spotted it this yesterday while out feeding the birds. He was all nice and clean. Today it was kind of messy. Thought it was kind of interesting. The second one is a five image stack. Cheers to all. It's been a while.

She just wants a hug! Ever watched one getting ready to wait? Often, as they draw the arms back, there is a 'click', a small jerk, just as the arms reach the widest. This engages a catch that they can then pull their muscles against, and release it when a prey item comes close; sort of like snapping your fingers. This makes the arms close very rapidly, hugging even the biggest or fastest prey. Add very potent venom and a drag line to catch them if they fall off, and medium-sized crabs can catch and feast on much larger bumblebees, for example. The contrast of #1 is excellent, and #2 is an excellent, classic shot!
Anything that eats mosquitos is a friend of mine. Nice stack.

Thanks for your comments relbugman. I have seen the "click" you mentioned but not a capture. Perhaps I will sit and watch. Mike

Thanks Curmudgeon. I totally agree with you about mosquito eaters. My Mom used to tell Dad he was a curmudgeon. I think of him every time I see your avatar! Mike
