Update on using Laplink PC Mover Pro to set up new computer with Adobe Lightroom, etc.

My new computer, a Dell 8930 XPS tower, with accompanying Dell 27" monitor finally arrived. Dell had a special on it, their Prime Day equivalent, so I got a good deal.

After carefully considering all the good advice here, including caveats about reinstalling everything myself instead of using PC Mover Pro, ( https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-600949-1.html ) I decided to use it after all. A few people had had good results, and my new PC doesn't have an optical drive (my choice), so I would have to download programs, etc.

It was a success! You set up the software on both computers, choose which programs and files you want to transfer, and run it off of your new computer. All, except for Canon Quick Menu for my printer, work on the new computer. The only thing I needed to do on the Adobe software was sign in to my account. I did have to use LR to move my folders from E drive to F drive since E drive was assigned to another purpose, but otherwise everything went seamlessly. I did the transfer wirelessly and it took about 3 hours total.

So now I have a great system for working on my post processing and a computer not cluttered up with old programs and old data files I rarely or never use anymore. I used only the program transfer, not data file transfer, though I could have. My data drive is another drive now and I didn't want to transfer those files onto the same drive as my programs.

One thing, I was going from a Windows 10 computer to another Windows 10 computer, so I can't speak to how it works on older Windows, though it is supposed to work with Windows 7 and 8 just fine.

The only thing I am having trouble with is my ColorMunki Smile for calibrating my new monitor. It is not recognizing the USB connection, even though I have used the same USB port for a flash drive and my external drive. I have a call into support. I may just plug the monitor into my laptop and calibrate it from there.
