Can you shoot a bracketed set of images, like 2 at +- 2 stops and combine as an HDR image? This would correct the almost blown out exposure of the view through the windows instead of what you have now? I am sure Kitty would cooperate and lounge on your table again.

Yes. With her black fur and those sea-green eyes, she's quite a beaut. My daughter's cat.

Why is the view out the window important?

There is so much visual information (including perspective distortion) in this photo that I wouldn't know what it's "about" unless told. Fascinating room, though.

There is a series of paintings, I don't know by whom, that features a black cat in each.
When I saw the cat sitting on the dining room table, I wondered if the scene would make for an interesting, and fine, photo.

Thanks for your remarks.

Beautiful room. Beautiful cat. I love how they just own everything. Nice capture.

It is an interesting photo in which the cat does not dominate to me and yet after seeing him he does take over. To me, the window glare is a distraction since it is so close to the cat. If it was just green foliage like the other one it would be better. Only my thoughts!

Thanks for your thoughts. Much appreciated.
I'll see if I can clone some stuff in.

It's got a pleasing amount of detail. I don't know whether the off centre shot and distortion was deliberate but for me this is a shot that would benefit from time spent setting it up better.

I would have liked to ensure I was placed bang in the centre of the table (longitudinally) and that the chairs were perpendicular to the table. That would bring the cat back to a thirds line rather than a quarter line.

You are right, but the location is not amenable. For this reason, and others stated, this image is not a good one.

I thank all of you who have responded. It's good to see images from others' perspectives.
