Linda-from-Maine has left the stage after a period in which this section has gone from strength to strength. I was asked if I would stand in her place and readily agreed. It will be a very hard act to follow. Subscriber numbers have gone up and up during Linda's time here; subject matter has largely diversified but remained within the constraints of post processing, and as well as a core of knowledgeable - talented - members, there is a steady influx of Hoggers either just looking, seeking help or finding a new "home". Some of the visitors are themselves expert in image manipulation. Altogether a formidable knowledge and skill base.

A quote from one of Linda's final posts '. . . as well as how much is simply snapshot sharing. Only a tiny percent of active users here are interested in thoughtful discussion or teaching'

I have read on this section some of the discussions added to examples of PP work, can we have some please?

My motto is "share the knowledge" so whilst caretaking the section I will do my best to join in the sharing. (My not so secret hope is that Linda will rest and the UHH addiction will set in and once again she will be running this section).

I couldn't be happier for you and the section, Linary! I hope that more folks will discover PP Forum and that all subscribers will continue to teach, learn, grow and be inspired. Best wishes and thank you!

Even though my time is severely limited right now, and will continue to be for a while, I read this section religiously every single day.

Although I have no personal knowledge of Linda’s feet, I know her shoes here are very, very big.

Think of it as playing center field for the Yankees after DiMaggio retired. That would make you Mickey Mantle. 😎

I am British, so I have no idea what this means: "Think of it as playing center field for the Yankees after DiMaggio retired. That would make you Mickey Mantle."

I do understand the sentiment with which I totally agree.

Linary thank you so much for taking on the responsibility of moderating PPDI. We will all miss Linda but you bring your own set of knowledge and strengths to the position. Welcome!

His analogy was to the replacement of baseball's 1940's to early '50s legend, Joe DiMaggio, by the then future baseball legend, Mickey Mantle. In other words he is expecting great things from you. No pressure, right?

Linary, thank you for taking the wheel. With out someone at the helm this section will lose its way and likely founder.

How about Sir Walter Hammond replacing Sir Jack Hobbs on the All-England team? Or was it the other way round?

Since I don't know European football players, with a few exceptions, I can't speak to that.

I knew this was going to be difficult, I did not know that a knowledge of vintage sporting records was also a requirement.

Thanks to all for the welcome, T'is the helmsman who steers the ship, but t'is the crew who keep the ship underway.

Thank you for doing this. Also, here's my response to your asking for something to share. Two unaltered photos, one from my back yard, one from a celebration in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, were layered. Altered the mask and spider web to sharpen and bring out full tones, darkening the background. The dancers were duplicated, pasted onto another layer and flipped, then partly erased to appear as a dream of the mask. Some saturation applied to the dancers, and "Thunderbird" symbol hinted.
