Come mid-September on the west side of The Rocky Mountain National Park, the elk rut and the changing of the aspen trees are in full action. Grand Lake, CO is the place to be for both. The elk and the trees are close to the road and the sun is great morning and evening. Some moose may be in the valley, also. Check with the Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce (www.gograndlake.com). for housing.

Great that you're offering to give others a chance at this. Sadly, our travel plans have altered and we're not traveling in that direction. Our funds went twords new tires for the jeep instead of our passport cards. next year if you're still overing this adventure, we should have to cards and be ready for that adventure.

Despite what east coasters think, west of the Mississippi is still part of the real world and the United States. No passports required.
