I can't believe the amount of drama on Facebook around new releases from Topaz and Skylum.

Topaz has released Studio 2. Many, including me, feel it was premature as there are no editing tools (crop, erase, etc) especially since they are now charging for the product. It is not compatible with the original free version and costs $100 (20% thru August 9 on their website and free if your purchased add-ons to the original total more than $99.

Skylum has announced (sort of, as their marketing is all over the place) Luminar 4 as a paid upgrade. Many are very upset feeling 3 never worked correctly (the DAM is a damn mess, IMHO). They also created a plug-in called Flex which was free to owners of 3 without the DAM. They have taken down their roadmap so no one knows what the hell they are doing.

I own both. Topaz Studio is great for artistic edits on images. Luminar 3 has worked for me but I use flex because I can't stand their DAM. I hope they both get their ..... Together soon.

I got Luminar 3 "free" as an upgrade to my paid 2018. I brought up 3 a couple of times, didn't like it, & have continued to use 2018 continuously I will wait for a while after 4 is released and get a feel for how people are doing with it.

Same here - Luminar 3, IMHO, is more like a "Lightroom Lite" cataloging program rather than a full-service editor. 2018 is a fine program, and I think 3 was a step in the wrong direction. I use 2018 as a plugin to PS and have been very pleased with it. If it ain't broke, ...
