Mercedes 300SL.
Excellent set of a great car, Mike.
Great shots, the Gullwing was always my dream car. Unfortunately it's value increased orders of magnitude faster than my salary.
When I was a kid I remember 300SL Gullwings going for $10,000 in the Road and Track classified adds. Typically back then you paid approximately $1,000.00 a cylinder for the more exotic European cars. Now, sometimes, you can pick up a Gullwing for around $1,000,000 if you are lucky.

Way back in the 1950's I had 18 miles to drive to college. Every day I would be floor boarding my MG TD to get to class on time. I always had to pass one of the English Profs who drove a 300 SL. He would be going about 45 mph down the highway in it. I cussed that guy more often than not. If I had that 300 SL I would have made my classes with time to spare.
Beautiful photos of what is, still to this day, one of the most beautiful automobiles on the road. Thanks for sharing.

Back in the 50's I fell in love with the Gullwing SL. I never could afford to get one. Thanks for the nice shots which brought back those good memories.
Great looking cars and images.

My dad loved these SL's when they were new. They were unlike anything else on the road.
A person could drive their 300SL to the track, race it, and drive it home again. And do it in grand style.

Here are four Mercedes300SL on display,(1956) the one has also the factory supplied suitcase like new installed.
nice shots of them, mike....i'll take the red one please.
back in the days , those cars where going to work transportation , use to see them coming for their 3000 miles lube / oil / filters .i remember in the middle 70 s , one came for sale , the price was then $ 7000 .
mechanically , the new cars are built better then in 86 , most of them will go 200 or 250 k miles without any issues .some will get time the gas mileage , and be MUCH cleaner .the body on a 560 is better quality but heavy .

Great photos of extraordinary cars. One can only dream of what the suitcase would have held on a weekend trip.
