At what cost??!! Too bad they can't infect them with Brucelosis. But I don't think horses are susceptible to that.

I brought thirty home so far.
You can rent a pastue to put them on. An BLM WILL pay you $7.25 a head per day you have them
So you are making $217/day = $79,205/year to pasture your 30 horses. Holy Cow! So I'm wondering how many other people are doing that? And again, how much tax payer money is this costing overall? Compared to the cost of 3 or 4 boxes of 30.06 ammunition. I love horses and am no advocating shooting them but there has to be another solution.

I should have known you would react like this. No. I'm not interested in destroying anything. Well, maybe the idea that some unscrupulous citizens should be able to scam tax payers out of money that shouldn't be spent frivolously. You have to admit, there are humane and less expensive ways to solve this problem. Come on, stop acting outraged long enough to think logically for 10 seconds and you will have to agree. "some one going get that money" That spells it out right there. THAT'S MY MONEY!!!!

This is always a challenging question - to cull or not to cull? In the Kruger National Park the elephants, not that there is no hunting, are multiplying to levels enough to wreck havoc on the environment. Birds that rely on trees for nesting are on the decline, as are other animals. Some areas to the north need more elephants, but it is almost impossible to move them, and you really need to move the entire family unit of 20-30 elephants to allow them to re-establish somewhere else. So what do you do? Pretty soon they will start to outstrip their food supply - then what - will it be time to start culling herds? Will it be too late? This is not an easy question.

It’s still a lot cheaper than the billions spent on other useless programs.
It’s odd that neutering the stallions wasn’t suggested. Certainly would be a less invasive and less life threatening procedure. Of course the remaining fertile stallions would probably succumb from trying to keep all those hormone raging mares happy.

Never tasted horse meat. Is eating it frowned on because of what they are or because of taste? This could be near free food for the hungry. Solves 2 problems

Seems like it been working many years without culling. Nature has always been able to take care of it self. Just like the return of the wolves. Trees are coming back streams have beavers back in them. Birds have a place to build homes. Nature does pretty good until man interviens

Useless maybe something should come along an do away with humans. Look at the problems it would solve. Same thing as culling animals. Elephants do eat grass
In Washington state back in the 30s through the 50s it was legal and it was good. I remember buying a
Roast that was so big, we would cut it up for steaks. All for around $2.00. It is very tasty and lean. I never understood why they made it illegals.
Horse meat tastes better than Venison, but look at all the kill crazy hunters. I doubt few deer hunt for the meat to eat. And yet a group of protestors vandalized and burned a horse rendering plant in our town a few years ago. They were having no problem filling the demands for people with a taste for horse meat.
Myself included.
