3 pics with new D7000 and 70-300VR EDS lens. Definetly a learning curve in progress.

To me, although excellent shots would make me say on the download, just missing the focus mark by a tad.

This was about 385 yards. Shutter priority @500 with ISO at 200. Maybe I was off on the focus points. Things happen very quickly at this lake. Lots of wildlife.

At 4 football fields away you're lucky to have gottem any shot with a 300mm zoom. Are you sure you're distance is correct and you didn't mean 300 feet?? Just wondering since I shoot baseball and at 325 ft an outfielder is pretty small with an 18-270mm zoom so at 4x that distance the outfielder would be indistinguishable. Just wondering.......

Whoops typo, 285 yards. I had checked it with my Nikon range finder which I checked against distance between telephone poles which is 100 ft. It read 33 yds consistently.
I took a lot of pics and made a lot of notes. That 300mm lens comes out to about 450 on a DX body.

I don't shoot BIF - - yet - - but it seems current wisdom might suggest pushing your ISO up quite a bit so you can get shutter speeds around 1/1000 sec.
